Group theoretic conditions for existence of robust relative homoclinic trajectories

چکیده
In this paper we consider robust relative homoclinic trajectories (RHTs) for G-equivariant vector fields. We give some conditions on the group and representation that imply existence of equivariant vector fields with such trajectories. Using these result we show very simply that abelian groups cannot exhibit relative homoclinic trajectories. Examining a set of group theoretic conditions that imply existence of RHTs, we construct some new examples of robust relative homoclinic trajectories. We also classify RHTs of the dihedral and low order symmetric groups by means of their symmetries.

Bifurcation from Codimension One Relative Homoclinic Cycles
We study bifurcations of relative homoclinic cycles in flows that are equivariant under the action of a finite group. The relative homoclinic cycles we consider are not robust, but have codimension one. We assume real leading eigenvalues and connecting trajectories that approach the equilibria along leading directions. We show how suspensions of subshifts of finite type generically appear in th...
متن کاملAnalytical Conditions for the Existence of a Homoclinic Loop in Chua Circuits
The presence of a saddle-focus separatrix — a homoclinic curve in Poincaré’s terminology — plays a fundamental role in the onset and existence of chaos in dynamical systems. To observe chaotic behavior of trajectories, for instance, it is sufficient to have two conditions: the existence of a separatrix loop and Shil’nikov’s saddle-focus condition [1]. Consider a three-dimensional dynamical syst...
متن کاملSwitching homoclinic networks
A heteroclinic network for an equivariant ordinary differential equation is called switching if each sequence of heteroclinic trajectories in it is shadowed by a nearby trajectory. It is called forward switching if this holds for positive trajectories. We provide an elementary example of a switching robust homoclinic network and a related example of a forward switching asymptotically stable rob...
متن کاملA Game Theoretic Approach for Sustainable Power Systems Planning in Transition
Intensified industrialization in developing countries has recently resulted in huge electric power demand growth; however, electricity generation in these countries is still heavily reliant on inefficient and traditional non-renewable technologies. In this paper, we develop an integrated game-theoretic model for effective power systems planning thorough balancing between supply and demand for e...
متن کاملAn Information-Theoretic Discussion of Convolutional Bottleneck Features for Robust Speech Recognition
Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) have been shown their performance in speech recognition systems for extracting features, and also acoustic modeling. In addition, CNNs have been used for robust speech recognition and competitive results have been reported. Convolutive Bottleneck Network (CBN) is a kind of CNNs which has a bottleneck layer among its fully connected layers. The bottleneck fea...
